Independent Living Skills (ILS)

*Independent Living Skills (ILS) services provide training/assistance for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities to achieve greater independence while living with others to acquire and maintain independent living. Independent Living Skills (ILS) can be provided at the person’s home or apartment.

Areas of Support

ILS services focus on basic self-help activities:

  • Money Management/Budgeting

  • Shopping (Retail/Groceries/Making Lists)

  • Meal Preparation

  • Health & Medical Care Management

  • Maintaining Good Housekeeping (Laundry/Chores/Routines)

  • Self-Advocacy Training

  • Psycho-Social Support

  • Exploring Community Resources (Finding resources for: Housing Search/Obtainment, Job Exploration, Social-Recreation)
